Today, we’re excited to announce two new features that will bring the fitting room experience to you. With virtual try-on for apparel, you can use generative AI to see how clothes look on real models. Plus, there are new filters to help you find exactly what you want.

When you try on clothes in a store, you can quickly determine if they fit you well. If the items you see don’t match what you’re looking for, don’t worry! Many people search for apparel when shopping online, but it can be difficult to determine how clothes will look on you before making a purchase.
Almost half of online shoppers don’t feel like the models in the images represent them, and more than half are unhappy with how an item looks on them when they receive it.
Our new virtual try-on tool on Search allows you to see if a piece is right for you before making a purchase. A total purchase with full confidence is all you need to do with a virtually try on.
Virtual try-on for clothes let you see how they look on different real models. This is how it works: Our new AI technology can show you how a piece of clothing would look on different models in different poses.
It accurately reflects how the clothing would drape, fold, cling, stretch, and form wrinkles and shadows.
We chose a diverse group of people with a range of sizes from XXS to 4XL, different skin tones (using the Monk Skin Tone Scale as a reference), various body shapes, ethnicities, and hair types.
Do you like that top but want a cheaper option? Do you have this jacket available in a different pattern? In a store, associates are available to assist you by suggesting and finding other options based on what you have already tried on.
Shopping for clothes online just got easier with an extra helping hand.
Our new guided refinements can assist shoppers in the U.S. to adjust product search criteria until they find the ideal item. With the help of machine learning and advanced visual matching algorithms, you can now easily narrow down your search by using inputs such as color, style, and pattern.
When you shop online, you have the advantage of not being restricted to a single retailer. You will find various options from different online stores. To access this feature, simply go to the product listings and look for it under the tops section.
We trained the new AI model extensively to ensure that our VTO feature is as useful and accurate as possible. Instead of using an LLM like Imagin, we used Google’s Shopping Graph which is the most extensive collection of up-to-date information on products, sellers, brands, reviews, and inventory.
We taught the model by using multiple sets of pictures. Each set had a person wearing a piece of clothing in two different positions.
For example, one picture showed someone wearing a shirt standing sideways, and another showed them standing forward. In this example, the AI model is trained to create images of a shirt on a person from different angles.
It does this by learning how to match the shape of the shirt in a sideways pose with the person in a forward pose, and vice versa.
Eventually, the AI can generate realistic images of the shirt on the person from all angles. To make it even better, we did this same process with millions of random images of different clothes and people.
You can use the result to visualize how a top would look on the model you select.
Virtual try-on, sometimes called “virtual fitting” or “digital try-on,” is a technique that allows customers to virtually “try on” things, such as clothing or makeup, on a computer or mobile device to see how they fit and how they appear.
